Let's face, there are very few of us out 'there' that don't need to lose just a few pounds, at least! However, if you are like me, it is easy to make excuses why not to lose the weight. After all, it can be a lot of work - but in the end, let's face it, it's worth every bit of effort that we put into it. Not only does our figure improve, but so does our health and our self-esteem. But where to start? There are just so many diet and exercise plans out there that you could just scream thinking about them. Well look no further! In Body Clutter: Love Your Body, Love Yourself, Marla Cilley and Leanne Ely outline a sensible and sane program that teaches you how to take control of your food, steps you can take to lose weight, and how to learn to love yourself, and your body. Most important, these are changes that you can make in your life with relative ease, and you'll find that once you start down the right path, you'll have no problem sticking to it!
The key to their plan is to take baby steps, gradually adding healthier foods to your diet, eating smaller portions, exercising more, and the like. One of the best examples of a baby-step that I found in this book is where to find exercise time. I for one am guilty of saying that I just don't have the time to exercise. They put me in my place very quickly when they said that when you are watching TV, just get up out of your chair during every commercial break and do a few stretches, dance around, or do a sit-up or two. Not only does this help you make time to exercise, but it also helps you get into the habit of simply moving every chance you get. This alone will help shed unnecessary pounds, and remind you that if you have the will, you will find the way!
Body Clutter is written in an easy-going, friendly style. The authors, who go by the nicknames The FlyLady and The Dinner Diva, talk to each other, and to the reader, throughout this book, giving advice, offering support and sound advice, and a wealth of tips that will encourage you to lose weight, start to exercise, and learn to love yourself. As they state over and over, losing weight, dieting, and exercising is not so much about finding the right 'plan'; rather it is adjusting your attitudes about food and how you feel about your own body. In short, Body Clutter is a life changing and life affirming book that will help you to take control of your weight, improve your own self image, and your sense of humor. Along the way you'll learn about sound nutrition, and how to free yourself of all that nasty clutter, both physical and mental, that is holding you back from doing whatever it is you want to do.
