Intimate Relationships
Ventura County, California - dogs and cats must have a permit to have sex together.
In Lebanon, a man may legally have sex with a dog - as long as it is a female. If he does the naughty with a male dog, the penalty is death!
Throughout California, it is illegal for animals to have sex near a tavern, school or church.
No Dogs Allowed
After a poop-scooping law failed to have the desired effect, dogs were totally banned from Reykjavik, Iceland. To this day, no dogs are allowed within the city limits of this, the biggest town in Iceland.
In Provo, Utah, dogs have a curfew and in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, dogs are forbidden on certain streets from March to September of each year.
Humans
In Belvedere, California, a dog must keep its master on a leash at all times.
If your pet strays away from you in Arvada, Colorado, make sure you pick him up from the pound immediately. If your pooch is not claimed within 24 hours, you will be put to death!
It is illegal for dogs to interfere with people walking the streets of Pateros, Washington. While in Eastlake, Ohio, you can be fined if you molest a dog.
In Paulding, Ohio, Police are allowed to bite a dog, as long as it is in the line-of-duty.
Warning the Enemy is approaching
The city of Sterling, Colorado requires all cats to wear taillights when running around loose.
The town of French Lick, Indiana once required all black cats to wear a bell on Friday the 13th - the law has since been repealed.
In parts of New Jersey, cats must wear bells at all times in order to give birds fair warning that trouble is approaching.
In Denver, the dog catcher must post a notice on a tree in the city park (were the dog can see it), three days in advance, warning a dog that he is coming after it.
Quiet Please!
Cats are forbidden to make noise in Columbus, Georgia, after 9 o'clock at night.
In Wanassa, New Jerseys, dogs are not allowed to cry, and in Collingswood, New Jersey, dogs are required to be silent from eight o'clock at night until six the next morning.
In parts of New York, dogs are limited to only 15 minutes of barking at a time and in parts of Wisconsin, they are not allowed to bark, snarl or growl in a menacing manner.
Dog Vs. Cat
In International Falls, Minnesota, cats are not allowed to chase dogs up telephone poles. However in Kentucky, dogs are not allowed pester cats, although they can fight with them.
Barber, North Carolina forbids fighting between cats and dogs.
Smoking and Drinking
In Illinois, it's illegal to give a dog or a cat a lighted cigar, but cigarettes are ok. You are also prohibited from giving them whiskey and other strong drinks.
Both Oklahoma and Ohio prohibit giving liquor to a fish.
Odds and Ends
It's a jailable offense to make an ugly face at a dog in Oklahoma.
Poodles are forbidden from attending the opera in Chicago.
A Massachusetts law requires that all dogs be hobbled during the month of April.
In Duluth, Minnesota, cats are not allowed to sleep in bakeries and dogs cannot snooze in barbershops.
Fishing
In Kentucky, it's illegal to fish with a bow and arrow or to use a lasso in Washington or Tennessee.
Explosives, rocks and guns are illegal fishing tools in Ohio, Washington, and Vermont, respectively. Nor are you allowed to scare a fish to death in New York.
In Chicago, you can't fish in your PJ's.
While in Oblong, Illinois, it's illegal to make love while fishing on your wedding day. Love making or fishing on your honeymoon - you can only choose one.
In Idaho, it's illegal to fish while riding on a horse or other animal, as well as in Washington, Colorado, and Utah.
Barehanded fishing is forbidden in Kansas.
On the Isle of Jersey, it's illegal to knit while fishing.
Buying Fish
Liverpool, England, saleswomen are allowed to work topless, but only in tropical fish stores.
Whaling
In Tennessee and California, it's legal to hunt whales from your car. In Ohio, whale hunting is legal - except on Sunday.
In Oklahoma, it is still illegal to hunt whales on land, but they've recently ok'd the hunting of whales off the coast of Oklahoma!
