Let's face it, every girl out there wants the perfect boyfriend - but does such a creature really exist? Conversely, there are a lot of outstanding boys at there that would like to be great boyfriends. They just don't know how. So, if you're a boy who wants to improve you 'boyfriend' skills, or a girl looking for some tips on molding the 'boy' in your life into a bonafide boyfriend, you'll want to take a peek at A Practical Handbook for the Boyfriend. This handy guide offers keen insights, from a woman's viewpoint, that will explain to you all about the ins and outs of being a good boyfriend, from what a girl really wants to hear when she asks, "Do I look fat?" to what does, and doesn't, count as foreplay.

Written by Felicity Huffman (a.k.a. Lynette Scavo of Desperate Housewives fame) and Patricia Wolff, this is a humourous, yet pertinent book that offers sound advice. Be aware, however, that like all things, not everything in this book applies to all people, or all situations. What this guide does, is to present a solid overview of what the writers feel goes into the making of a good boyfriend and building a solid relationship. You'll also find tips on how to meet the girl of your dreams, and what you can do to get her attention, and keep it. This book also offers insights into the way that many girls think, and how you can interpret the often illogical, emotionally charged reactions that they have to seemingly (to the boy) innocuous events.

The information in this guide is organized into nineteen thematic chapters covering such topics as Sex, Money, Cars, Television, Fighting, Dating, and Phoning your girlfriend. The authors help you to wade through the confusing morass that is made up by ofttimes the difference, many of which may seem illogical and confusing, between men and women. These differences range from how men and women think differently, to different expectations about sex. The authors have also included several handy cheat-sheets that you should copy or memorize so that the information they contain will always be at hand. For example, there is one that explains What's Sexy to Your Girlfriend, and one that offers translations to common things that your girlfriend might say:
SHE SAYS:"No honey, I'm fine."

SHE MEANS: "You've really made me sad/angry/upset, and let's have a really long talk about it." (Pg. 17)
Understanding what she really means will save you countless hours of fighting!

While A Practical Handbook for the Boyfriend is written more for the boys, one of the book's subtitles is For Every Girl Who Wants to Build One!. While you girls out there will have fun reading this book, you might also find some helpful tips that will help you to guide your boyfriend in the right direction. Don't expect this book to teach you how to totally change your boyfriend. That, unfortunately is something far too many girls try to do, and very few ever succeed! Tweaking a few traits or habits, however, is doable, and this book may well help you achieve your goals!

A Practical Handbook for the Boyfriend is an entertaining book that provides some intriguing insights in how to be the best boyfriend possible. In addition, for all you girlfriends out there, this book is the perfect gift for the boyfriend in your life who might benefit from some gentle advice on improving his boyfriend skills.

Please note: this book contains some mature content, and may not be suitable for all readers.
