The characters in this clever, humorous, and entertaining book in the series The Skinny On are a married couple, Billy and Beth who, much like most couples, buy items on credit and, without realizing it, soon amass a debt of over $20,000 and become frustrated and afraid. The stick figure of Jim Randle appears, as he usually does, and explains such facts as:

• How they accumulated such a debt.
• Every time they buy something after they have a balance owed, interest is assessed to their loan from the date of the purchase.
• Interest is not assessed even on loans without balances on a yearly basis, but on a daily basis, resulting in a very high interest rate.
• Banks incorporate their credit card companies in States that allow very high rates.
• If Billy and Beth continue to pay what they had been paying monthly, $500, it would take about seven years to repay this debt, even if they buy nothing more on their credit cards.
• He shows them several ways how to shorten the repayment years.
• He suggests that they contact their credit card people and ask for a reduction in the interest rate.

And much much more; all in an informal, non-pedantic, concise, humorous, and engaging fashion. Readers finishing this volume, which takes only about an hour to read, will know more about credit cards than they knew when they started reading, and, what is more important, they will learn to be cautious.
