The World of Myths is a thrilling introduction to some of the worlds most fascinating myths and their historical significance. Introduced by Marina Warner, this book is essentially five books in one: The book concludes with a detailed glossary compiled by Rosalind Kerven.

These five books where originally published singularly as part of the Legendary Past Series. Each book follows the same basic format. Each book provides cultural information, history, theology, and the abiding legacy of the major myths from each tradition. The major myths from these ancient cultures are retold in full, and each is wonderfully illustrated with archaeological remains that can be associated with the myth, as well as with artistic renderings. In all there are about 180 illustrations in this book.

The World of Myths will serve as a valuable resource for academicians, students of all ages, and any reader interested in exploring the fascinating world of mythology. The myths are dynamically retold, complimenting the grandeur, excitement, and impact of these ancient stories. For those wishing to continue their study of these myths, a list of suggestions for further reading can be found after the introduction and at the end of each book.
